Part 2: What I got for my Birthday πŸŽ

So here’s part two! What I got for my birthday. This isn’t a braggy post, I just love seeing what people get for their birthday (nosey I know πŸ€ͺ) but its a good insight into their interests and personality. I also thought it would be a nice way to show my appreciation for all the lovely gifts that I received this year.

So settle down with a cuppa and let’s take a look.

I’ve categorised this post in order to make it an easier read, enjoy!

Beauty

One of my faves β™‘ from my little niece Evie-Mae. This make up bag is so cute!! I love it, and it’s a great size too.

I also got a few make up items. The Tanya Burr ‘Glow Du Cocoa’ palette with a bronzer, super shimmery highlighter and a lip gloss that adds a lovely goldy glow to your lips. This palette is going to be perfect for summer and when I’m on holiday.

I also got two highlighter palettes from my sister Sarah. These are so pretty 😍

The Revolution Pro HD palette, the highlighter palette of dreams.. So pretty. I also got another trio of baked highlighter, also by Revolution.

Sarah also got me some of the Primark nails which are really cool.

I was also given some of Barry Ms new Holographic nail varnishes in their Metals range. I’ve been trying to get hold of these for a while. Definatly check those out.

Skincare/bath/shower stuff

I LOVE bath stuff, bath bombs, yummy smelling shower gels & soaps so I was super pleased with these gifts!

I love the Wilko ‘Fruity’ shower gels, the scents are amazing.

The Lush set that I got was awesome as I havn’t tried any of the items in it before and I love trying lots of new Lush stuff, shower gels & soaps, exciting.

I also got a couple of the Marshmallow bath oils which smell incredible. One of my new faves and your skin feels so soft afterwards.

My husband Tim also got me something I have wanted for AGES!! A bath caddy tray, and it is as epic as I’d imagined. It fits perfectly across the bath, holds my iPad & or phone up safely, has a cup/glass holder and an area just to put your magazine, chocolate etc. Perfect for any bath lover.

Food

I also got a few of my favourite Ciders, which are perfect in the summer when it’s lovely and hot outside πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

I also got some of my favourite chocolate, the ultimate, a Terrys chocolate orange (that didn’t make it past my birthday) a bag of the segments, crispy m&ms and more! YUM.

Clothes/accessories

I love my ((Bounce)) fitness classes and I finally got a couple of pairs of their leggings. Aren’t they awesome?! So pretty. Love a pair of jazzy leggings.

Harry potter inspired chokers!! Need I say anymore!! Epic.

This purse is so awesome. It’s in the style of the Hogwarts acceptance letter, with the hand written font on one side and the Hogwarts crest & seal on the back, just like the envelopes. SO cool and perfect, if like me, you have loads of loyalty cards as it’s got loads of space inside.

Primark are killin’ it with the Harry Potter merch atm and you can never have too many socks, a birthday staple.

Books

Reading is my single most favourite hobby. I got a couple of novels for my birthday that I had found on Amazon and that sounded really good.

I love Ruth Jones so I was really exited to get her first published novel, it’s called ‘Never Greener’. I also got a novel called ‘The Child’, it sounds so gripping so I can’t wait to get my teeth into that.

My sister also got me the ‘A list a day’ notebook from Paperchase and it is right up my street. I love a list. Any stationary lovers out there, you need this. Such fun!

DVDS

Carrying on with the Ruth Jones theme, I got the last series of her TV sitcom Stella, which I love. I havn’t seen this series & Christmas special so I can’t wait to watch the next instalment in this brilliant series (I can’t believe it’s the end 😭)

I also got ‘The Greatest Showman’. This requires no explanation. A-MAZ-ING. If you havnt seen it, 1. Where have you been? & 2. GO NOW AND WATCH IT.

Giftcards

I was very fortunate to get some lovely vouchers too. Primark, my most fave shop, EVER.

Superdrug, which is perfect as I love buying my nail varnish and make up from there.

& New look, they always have such pretty clothes too.

This calls for one thing.. A SHOPPING SPREE.

& finally,

Other

I got this gorgeous keyring from my two nephew’s, I mean, how super cute is it!?! Love it.

I also got this epic Harry Potter colour changing glass. Perfect topped up with one of those ice cold ciders at a BBQ this summer. Keepin’ my fingers crossed for sun.

My lovely husband Tim also got me the epic present of an Italian themed cooking class. I love cooking and if you’ve followed me on here for a while you’ll know that we LOVE Italy & Italian food so that is going to be so epic (& tasty) I can’t wait.

I hope you enjoyed this post! I’ve been very lucky this year and am super pleased with all my lovely gifts β—‡

My new skincare selection!

So, I recently decided to update my skincare collection and try something new. I popped into my local Superdrug and had a browse among the shelves to see what they had to offer.

My skin is a combination of dry/oily and at the moment it is particularly dry (thanks crappy British weather haha). At times my skin has been quite sensitive to certain products so I was also conscious of this too when selecting new products.

I went for six products in Simple’s ‘Kind to skin’ skincare range. They are the sensitive skin experts and are the UK’s No 1 brand with Multi Vitamins included in their products; ‘Simple goodness’ Sounds good to me πŸ‘

Heads up, they were better than half price in Superdrug too so if you like the look of any of these products be sure to grab some soon!

The products I chose were the ‘Kind to skin’ Vital Vitamin foaming cleanser, the ‘Kind to skin’ Soothing facial toner, the ‘Kind to skin’ hydrating cleansing oil, the ‘Kind to skin’ smoothing facial scrub, the ‘Kind to skin’ refreshing facial wash and finally the ‘Kind to skin’ moisturising facial wash.

Lets take a look at them!

DSCN0452

Vital Vitamin foaming cleanser

This smooth foaming cleanser is perfect for removing impurities and the toughest make up from your skin. It foams up from a liquid and is really light and soft. All you need is a couple of pumps, massaged into wet skin and you feel super clean! I’ve never used a foaming product before but I loved this, I can already tell this is going to become a firm fave!

Soothing facial toner

This product is perfect for toning and refreshing your skin. I felt really refreshed when I applied this to my skin after the cleanser and it left my skin feeling super soft.

Hydrating cleansing oil

I found this product to be super hydrating, and although it seems quite oily (because its an oil durrr) it soaks into your skin really well, it smells great too.

Smoothing facial scrub

This scrub is super gentle on your skin but perfect for getting a smooth, even feel to your face. This worked particularly well on my nose where my pores are more raised. I’m going to use this once a week, although it says if you have oily skin you can use this twice a week, so great for all skin types!

Refreshing facial wash

This is so cooling on your skin.Β  With vitamin E this is super nourishing and helpsΒ  to revive your skin. I used this in the morning and it made me feel really refreshed and awake, perfect for a bit of a pamper.

Moisturising facial wash

This face wash is great for injecting some moisture into your skin when needed. This is obviously similar to the face wash above but I couldn’t decide which one to get so picked up both haha. Like I said at the moment my skin is quite dry so this will be great for adding moisture, where as I can use the other face wash to wake me up in morning!

DSCN0449

This range is so refreshing for my skin and super gentle. My skin feels so soft even after just a few uses and I can’t wait to see the effect it has after using these products for a little while.

Happy body, happy mind! πŸ›€πŸ™πŸ˜Œ

Hi! I’m back, it’s been too long (Over a week!!) I feel like I’ve had no time at the moment so I took this evening out to have a bit of ‘me time’ and to actually write a blog post.

It’s really important to take time out to relax especially if you feel like things are getting on top of you. Do things that you enjoy but havn’t been able to do, preferably something stress free and relaxing. Life can be busy and chaotic and we often put ourselves last, I think we are all guilty of this from time to time.

So what do I like to do to chill out? I love a good pamper. I’ve really got into bath/skin/body products recently and I just love an opportunity to soak and freshen up.

I started by running myself a lovely hot bath and getting out my products.

For my bath:

  • Lush ‘Flamingo’ bubble bar
  • Lush ‘Butterbear’ bath bomb
  • Radox ‘Feel pampered’ bath soak with shea butter and ginger

When I’m in the bath I like to pamper myself further with some lovely skincare…

Skincare/face/body

  • Witch ‘Naturally clear bursting beads’ face wash
  • Vasanti ‘Brighten up!’ Enzymatic face rejuvinator
  • Superdrugs fruity ‘Orange and satsuma’ shower gel
  • Zoella ‘Pretty polished’ sugar scrub
  • Nspa beauty rituals ‘Radiance boosting’ face mask
  • Zoella ‘Creamy madly dreamy’ body lotion

After I’d scrubbed with my sugar scrub (this feels lovely rubbed into dry skin and then rinsed off) washed myself & washed my face I then applied my face mask and left this on for 15 minutes.

I love to wash my hair when I am having a bath too for a completely clean and fresh feeling. Some of my favourite shampoos and conditioners are…

Shampoos and conditioners

  • Superdrug Anti dandruff ‘Classic care’ shampoo
  • Aussie ‘Miracle moist’ shampoo
  • Argan oil ‘hydrating’ hair mask
  • Kebelo ‘Clarifying’ shampoo (for use once or twice a month, a nice treat!)

Going back to the products in the picture above, I love the Witch face wash and spot products and they have always worked for me going back to my mid teens. I’ve had a few breakouts recently which is why I re purchased the face wash and spot stick, I would 100% recommend their products.

(Fingers crossed the face mask doesn’t make me break out even more!!)

Once I had washed off the mask I used my Vasanti face rejuvinator. When I’m out of the bath I always apply moisturiser to my face and today I even used my Zoella body lotion. I love the scent of her Creamy madly dreamy body lotion as it is from her original collection, my fave!

Just to mention, I also love candles and wax melts to help me relax so I popped one of my Crumble magic wax melts into my burner. Today I went for Raspberry lemonade that smells so fruity, fizzy and delicious.

One final pamper product that I used was to give my feet a treat!  I used my foot pedi to get rid of any dry skin, then I used the foot scrub and finally I applied the foot lotion, ahhh.

Ps. A snack and a refreshing drink is always a winner too…

Last but not least, I hadn’t done my gel nails for a while so I thought this would be the perfect way to finish off my pamper evening, especially when I can do it sitting in front of the TV in my pjs! Perfection πŸ‘Œ

I am loving my Sensationail gel nail kit so much and I went for the raspberry/burgundy shade that came in the set, it’s called ‘Miss behave’.

Happy body, happy mind.

My sale bargains! πŸ›

I love shopping so with our Christmas money in hand me and my sister went into town to see what we could pick up in the late December/January sales.

Here’s what I got!

First up I got this lovely fragrance set from Superdrug.

The set is by Ghost and is their ‘Eclipse’ scent. The set came with a 30ml bottle of the fragrance and a cute rose gold compact mirror. It was only Β£15 and it smells amazing! I havnt had it before but me and my sister just thought it smelt so nice and great for popping in your bag!

Also from Superdrug I managed to grab a few bargains from Zoella’s Christmas range!

I bought the ‘Best chums’ coin purses for me and my sister. These were only Β£2.99 in the sale. These are so cute.

I also bought her set of three make up bags, these are so pretty so I was so happy to see these in the sale.

The large bag is clear with a coral strip across the top and Zoella written across the front in the same colour writing. The medium bag is a gorgeous pinky rose gold glitter, it’s beautiful and has Zoella written in white on the front. And finally, the small bag is a material one that says ‘Throw kindness round like confetti’ in rose gold font, I love that quote it’s so lovely.

These were Β£4.99 for all three. They are great to use as make up storage, to pop in your bag or for travelling.

And finally from Zoella’s range I got one of the Christmassy gift sets.

I love the design and packaging of Zoella’s Christmas range with the brown paper look background and printed on ribbon in the corners like it’s been gift wrapped.

This set is the ginger and vanilla fragrance set, pamper yourself with my brand new limited edition fragrance. It comes with a large bottle of the fragrance and a large bottle of her ginger cream body lotion. The design with the little gingerbread men is adorable.

I wasn’t sure about this scent to begin with but it’s definatly growing on me and is quite nice and sweet.

If you’ve seen my blog before you’ll know I love Lush and I missed the Boxing day sale (Gutted!) But when me and my sister went in they still had the ‘Butterbear’ bath bomb on offer. It was half price and only cost 98p!!

I picked up two for me and two for my sister. I talked about this bath bomb in my Festive Lush Haul, it so lovely for your skin, it makes it super soft because it’s made of  cocoa butter, lovely.

From Boots I got an electric toothbrush. Sounds boring, I know! But highly useful and it was a bargin at Β£20, half the original price.

Tim got one for Christmas so I thought I might as well get one too. It takes a bit of getting used to but your mouth does feel super clean πŸ‘

And finally, from Waterstones me and my sister picked up Sam and Nic Chapman’s new book ‘Face’.

It’s a lovely book about all things to do with your face from skincare, make up with different tips and tricks. If you don’t know them Sam and Nic are the ladies behind the ‘Real technique’ make up brushes. I love watching their make up tutorials on their YouTube channel ‘Pixiwoo’ so I can’t wait to look through it properly.

So those are my bargains! I was super happy with them 😊

What did you managed to pick up in the sales?

Until next time,

My daily skincare routine.

I thought I would share with you my usual morning skincare routine, including the products that I like to use.

I start off my skincare routine in the shower. I use normal shower creme but I am loving this lemon scented one from Aldi at the moment.

It’s really lemony, zesty & fragrant. The smell & oils in this really hit you and wake you up! and you deal fresh and clean ready for the day ahead πŸ‹

I also like to use Zoellas Scrubbing me softly smoothing body scrub from her Tutti Fruitti range.

This smells really lovely and I absolutly LOVE the texture of it. It’s quite thick & smooth but when you rub it into your skin you can really feel the beads gently exfoliating your skin and it does leave it feeling so smooth.

The last thing I use in the shower is my LUSH ocean salt face & body scrub.

Lashings of fine sea salt to scrub and clean, organic limes to brighten and avocado butter to soften your skin.

This is so lovely & does exactly what it says on the tin πŸ‘Œ

I use this on the areas of my face where I get particularly dry skin or where my face breaks out the most, I’ve been doing this at the advice of the beautician who did my facial at Aqua springs during half term and it has defiantly helped me reduce the amount of spots I get on those problem areas.

LUSH create lovely natural products which is good to know if you use their things regularly. I use this once or twice a week depending on how my skin is.

Once I’m out of the shower I cleanse and tone.

(I’ve just run out of the cleanser so I couldn’t include a picture!!)

Both my cleanser and toner are from Superdrug Vitamin E range. This is great for adding moisture to your skin and since my skin can be a little dry this is ideal for me.

I put a little bit of the product onto a cotton pad and apply it all over my face and neck. Cleanser first, then toner.

I have a couple of different moisturisers & creams that I use on my face. I’ll start with my moisturiser by Olay.

I have been using this Olay day time beauty fluid for Normal/dry/combo skin since my teens and it has always left my skin feeling moisturised and refreshed. Now that I am mid twentys (ahh, that makes me feel old πŸ™ˆ) I think my skin is in pretty good condition & I’m sure this moisturiser has played it’s part!

To add a bit more hydration to my skin I also use the Day cream from Superdrugs Vitamin E range. 24hr hydration πŸ’§

This cream is rich in natural Vitamin E, high in anti oxidants and defends against environmental skin damage, it’s spf 15 too! 🌝

This cream is a bit thicker than the Olay one so it’s nice to have a couple of different products that work for my skin.

In the picture you’ll also see the Moisture boost facial serum from the Superdrug Vitamin E range; I use this every other day. This serum is more of a gel consistency and is great to apply before or after moisturiser.

And, the Nourishing eye cream; I use this probably every other day or when my eyes are feeling particularly tired and in need of a pick me up!

So that’s me! πŸ‘± Using these products always leaves my skin feeling lovely & ready for the day (even without any make up)

My sister recently did a blog post on some of her skincare faves, including the new Garnier Skin active moisture bomb range! πŸ™Œ  Check that out here.

Let me know what your skincare staples are! Any recommendations?!?

Until next time,

August favourites πŸ€—

I’ve wanted to do a favourites post for ages but I’ve never got round to it. I might have mentioned some of these things in other posts but these are a few things that I have been loving this month.

First up, beauty & skincare…

I have definatly mentioned these first two before and I am still loving these so much!

Maybelline brow satin in the shade ‘Medium Brown’. This is a make up staple for me now, it’s so easy to apply.

Bourjois Rough velvet edition in the shade 07 ‘Nude-ist’. This glides on really nicely and dries matte. I πŸ’Ÿ this liquid lipstick, it’s my favourite out of all of my lipsticks. πŸ’„

Revolutions New Pro Glow highlighter palette. These colours are so beautiful and shimmery. I particularly like the gold shades as I haven’t tried these in a highlighter before.

And finally…

Niveas intensive hydration after sun moisturiser. We discovered this on our honeymoon and it was perfect to apply after being in the sun all day and for making your skin feel really fresh and rich in moisture.

I love the smell of this too as it takes me right back to our honeymoon…ahhh β›±

Next up, fashion.

I love this t-shirt from Primark. I love the stripes and the heart patch is super cute. This was only Β£5.

I’ve been wearing my new Havaianas a lot this month! We’ve had some pretty nice weather so these have been perfect and they are super comfy.

These were only Β£21 after my 10% discount, I got them in Office.

Let’s talk books…

I love reading and it’s one of my favourite hobbies. These two I have particularly enjoyed and they are by two of my favourite authors.

The first one I’ll talk about is ‘That girl from nowhere’ by Dorothy Koomson.

‘Clemency Smittson was adopted as a baby and the only connection she has to her birth mother is a cardboard box hand-decorated with butterflies. Now an adult, Clem moves to Brighton, where she was born, and meets someone who knows all about the butterfly box and what happened to her birth parents.’

This was one of the books I read on our honeymoon and I couldn’t put it down!

I’d also recommend her novel ‘Goodnight, beautiful’ that I read this month too.

I am currently reading ‘See me’ by Nicholas Sparks. I’m up to chapter 8 and I’m loving it already, his novels are just so easy to read.

‘Colin Hancock is giving his second chance his best shot. At 28, he’s focused on getting his teaching degree and avoiding all the places and people that proved so destructive in his past. The last thing he’s looking for is a serious relationship. But when he crosses paths with Maria Sanchez one rainswept night, his carefully structures life is turned upside down.’

And finally, food!

A couple of food items that I’ve really been enjoying this month both come from Aldi. This is where we do our weekly shop so I just picked these up to give them a try and ended up loving them.

This fizzy drink is Raspberry and Mint flavour, it is so refreshing and tastes so fresh and yummy.

The Granola squares in the picture above ☝ are super tasty! They are ‘Crispy oats & Honey Granola bites’ little squares of oaty goodness, be careful though, they are super moreish πŸ™Š

What have you been enjoying the month? Let me know 😎

Until next time,

Roseanne πŸ™‚
